If you were to follow that advice, be aware that the folders you do these extractions/copies to will vary depending on where you upgraded to the 1.13 mod. There are good reasons not to upgrade the generic Steam version in the Steam downloaded content folder (potential file ownership issues). In diesem Video zeige ich euch, wie ihr Jagged Alliance 2 mit der 1.13 Mod ( mit und ohne IoV ) unter Win10 und Win8 besser zum laufen bringen und ohne lästi. Windows 8 is awful for PC gamers and FYI people need to start Googling there problems themselves! Copy "ddraw.dll", "libwine.dll" and "wined3d.dll" from here to the JA2 installation directory, "\steamapps\common\Jagged Alliance 2" Go to the folder where you extracted "wined3d" and into the $SYSWIN subdirectory.Ĥ. exe by right-clicking the file in Explorer, and select "Extract to" from the 7-Zip submenu.ģ. If the game is running slow (choppy mouse movement, bullets take several seconds to reach their targets), then install the WinD3D drivers as follows:Ģ. If the game crashes when starting a new game, try to set PLAY_INTRO = 0 in the ja2.ini file Right-clink "ja2.exe" and set compatibility mode to "Win XP SP3" and privilege level to "run as admin" Edit the JA2.ini file in the same directory, find VFS_CONFIG_INI defintions and comment out the line defining "JA2113.ini" and uncomment the line with "JA2Vanilla.ini"ĥ. Having said all that, I have to admit I don't have Windows 8, so I can't definitively state that it does run on it, but if it didn't, I think there'd be more evidence in these and other forums. Also, make sure you have the latest Windows Updates downloaded/installed. Next possible is DirectX, but I'm not even sure JA2 uses it. Video driver is the most likely culprit and black screen is suggestive of a problem in that area. Most common problem with any game is drivers, and the most common fix is to upgrade them to the latest versions. Certainly it doesn't require 16 bit mode on Win7, so it shouldn't on Win8 either. are you running the standard Steam version or the v1.13 mod? Did you install it using an administrator account or a user-level account? And are you running it from the same account you used to install it? Have you tried setting it up for Steam's 'offline mode'?Ĭan't think of any technical reason why JA2 shouldn't run on Windows 8 the OS changes aren't that drastic. Late to respond and not a tech anymore, but.
